Two drug traffickers were arrested with possession of 90.9 kg of heroin on the way to Oudomsay-Luang Namthan provinces on 17 February.
They have been detained with two mobile phones, 1 million kip in cash, and heroin hidden on a modifying bus, said Oudomsay drug control and supervision authorities, according to the local media.
Oudomsay drug control and supervision authorities received a tip from a good citizen that there would be a large number of heroin transportation by a bus from Bokeo heading to Oudomsay province. As a result the authorities have immediately decided to set up a checkpoint at KM7 to random check vehicles.
A suspected bus with 25 seats, licence plate 0176, had been stopped to check and after that the authorities found 240 bars containing heroin. As a result the authorities detained the bus driver and his friend for investigation.
The two suspects are Mr. Thongly, 23, a Hmong in Chomchouk village, and Mr. Touaya, 20, a Hmong in Pa Oy village, Houaysai district, Bokeo province.
Throughout the interrogation, both suspects have confessed that the heroin belonged to them, but authorities will extend their investigation for sources and other people involved.
