Sekong province has set a target to have 14 villages in Thateng district live over the poverty line and build two development village clusters this 2013-2014.

These villages in total share 10 per cent of the villages in the district.

The two development village clusters are namely Donsa development village cluster and Kabaeu development village cluster in Thateng district, Sekong province. Last year, the party committee and relevant authorities in the province paid attention to the poverty reduction, political grassroots building and integrated rural development to ensure the translation into reality of the four-breakthrough objective of the Party, particularly those related to poverty reduction and achieving the UN millennium development goals by 2015.

Poverty reduction attracts much of the attention of authorities in the province.
