Rice growers in Kaysone district expected to use enough water

Signing ceremony of ‘Memorandum of Understanding’ on a feasibility study for the construction of Houay Sompoy catchment area.

Rice growers in ten villages of Kaysone district, Savannakhet province will adequately use water from the catchment area, which is expected to be built following completing a feasibility study of its construction.

Savannakhet Agriculture and Forestry Division allowed the Lao Samay Bridge Construction and Irrigation Service Company to conduct a one-year study through a signing ceremony, last Friday.

The catchment area will be conducted the Houay Sompoy in Kaysone district, Savannakhet province.

Signatories to the memorandum of understanding of Houay Sompoy catchment construction project were Deputy Director of Savannakhet Agriculture and Forestry Division, Mr. Souliyo Keophalivanh and Director of Bridge Construction and Irrigation Service Company, Mr. Phouvong Korlasack.

This project aims to improve agriculture in the district and ensure the adequate supply of water to agriculture production.
