Over 4,600 flood victims receive aid

(KPL) The Lao Red Cross, in cooperation with Red Cross of Ubonrasathany of Thailand, authorities and relevant officials presented relief aid to flood victims in 13 villages in two districts, Soukhouma and Mounlapamok in Champassak province on Dec 25-26.

The assistance package includes rice and salt, totally valued at over 440 million kip which is the assistance from the Thai Red Cross and the Chinese Red Cross. Flood damage of basic infrastructure and farmland in Soukhouma has been estimated at over 23 billion kip.

Over 1,500 ha of rice farmland, seven roads, three irrigation systems and 20 artesian wells in Mounlapamok were damaged when tropical typhoons Haima and Nockten hit the district and parts of the country in June and August.
