(KPL) President Choummaly Sayasone has sent a message of sympathy to his Turkish counterpart Mr Abdullah Gul over the deadly earthquake that struck the south-eastern part of the country on Sunday.
The magnitude 7.2 earthquake, the most powerful quake to hit Turkey in a decade, triggered the collapse of dozens of buildings and has killed at least 264 people, with hundreds of people missing and more than 1,000 others
The message read: “On behalf of the Lao people and on my own behalf, I would like to express my heartfelt sympathy and condolences to you and, through Your Excellency, to the people of Turkey, particularly the families of the victims.”
“I hope that under your clear-sighted leadership, the Turkish people will be able to overcome the impact of this natural disaster.”
