Women’s Ministry of Information absorb resolution of 6th Congress of Lao Women’s Union

(KPL) Almost 400 members of Lao Women’s Federation of the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism gathered at National Culture Hall, yesterday to absorb and materialize the resolution of the 6th Congress of Lao Women’s Union into practice.

Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr. Bosengkham Vongdara has highlighted the statement of President Choummaly Sayasone regarding to overall activities of Lao Women’s Union that always pays attention to materialize the Party’s policy and guideline into the development plan for women and implement the plan for improving the living conditions of women nationwide.

Under the advance of President, large of members of Lao Women’s Union have accessed to education and public service and vocational skills.

“Lao women have also provided consultation and assistance to underprivileged women and children by establishing a fund to train vocational skills and seek for employment to women,” said Minister Bosengkham.

Mr. Choummaly’s statement has also urged civil servants and workers in all social strata to take into account the participation campaign of productivities movement with the aim to alleviate poverty, based on the implementation of resolution of the 9th Party Congress and the 7th five years socio-economic development plan to pave the way for the country as industrial modernisation and lead the country out of list of least developed country.

President of Lao Women’s Federation of Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, Mrs. Anong Vongsa, representing the Lao Women’s Union disseminated the resolution of the 6th Congress of Lao Women’s Union and Lao women’s development plan 2011-2015 and the amended regulation of Lao Women’s Union.

She added that under next five years plan is to improve and expand the federation of women in all levels by strengthening in the education institute, business unity and factories to be achieved by 95 % in state sector and 65 % in private sector.

Under the plan will also focus on the expansion of members of Lao Women’s Union by 80 % of target group.

She has pledged to further materialise the Party’s policy on gender role promotion into practice, protection of women and children’s right and actively implement the national policy for the advancement of women.

President of Lao Women’s Union, Ms. Sisay Leudetmounsone gave an advice on women’s role in the development and living conditions improvement.
