(KPL) Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong has urged authorities of Oudomsay to kick start efforts to boost agricultural production in the province.
Mr. Thongsing told the local authorities that farmers should have access to markets for their produce.
Speaking at a meeting in the province, the Prime Minister said agriculture is “the utmost priority for his government and that they would ensure enough attention was given to law in tackling social problems”. The Prime Minister also stressed the importance of economic development.
Last year, Oudomsay saw its economy grow by 7.42%, with a gross domestic product (GDP) of 2.2 trillion kip, according to Oudomsay Governor Mr. Khamla Lingnasone.
“Last year, the export of agricultural produce, mainly latex, corn and bananas, was accounted for 299 billion kip and the investment by domestic and foreign investors amounted to 1.1 trillion kip, equivalent to 92.99 per cent of the entire investment in the province,” said Mr. Khamla.
