Sing district accesses safe water

Simple gravity-fed water system used by most Lao citizens before water supply was developed.
(KPL) Eleven villages in Sing district, Laungnamtha province has gained an access to safe water following the completion of a 2.39 billion kip water supply and sanitation project financed by the Asian Development Bank. Deputy Director of the Luangnamtha Provincial Water Supply Service Sithikone Phanhnalai said that the project had been carried out with a low interest loan from the ADB.
The project includes the construction of water supply system, which is able to daily supply 1,180 m2 of water, and latrines for 102 poor families.
Sixty-four per cent of population in Laungnamtha province has gained an access to clean water. The province expects to increase the number of families with an access to safe water to 80 per cent by 2015, according to Mr. Sitthikone.
