PM praises Champassak, calls for unity to address development barriers

(KPL) Recently Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong praised the efforts of some Champassak people in ensuring better lives for themselves, by implementing the Party’s policy and called for all ethnic groups to unite and ensure the stability of politic, overcome barriers to development and speed up poverty reduction efforts.

Mr. Thongsing talked to officials, military personnel and police officers, as well as well known figures in Champassak province when he visited on 12-13 May.

After being briefed about the activities in the areas of socio-economic development, national defence and security by the provincial deputy governor Mr. Somsanith Bouttivong, PM Thongsing praised cadres, party members, and all parties as well as local people for their efforts in implementing the party’s policy as well as state laws. He also urged provincial authorities to disseminate the outcome of the 9th Party Congress held in March to ensure officials and public fully understand the proceedings.

He said the province’s socio-economic development plan should be in line with Party policy approved at the Congress, using the four breakthrough approaches.

He also told them of the concern of the Party Central Committee and the government for people in outlying mountainous areas and the difficulties they face. So far the Party and the government have put in large amounts of both money and effort into socio-economic development in mountainous areas.
