Government pours big fund to develop Sekong province

(KPL) The government of the Lao PDR has spent a big resource to build the infrastructure and irrigation system in order to address the poverty problems in Sekong province.

Mr. Nouphone, Director of Planning and Investment Service of Sekong province disclosed recently that from 2008-2011 the government has approved some of budget to build roads, and irrigation system in the province in order to provide the facilities for transport, trade, investment and tourism. This also aimed to encourage the local people to access to the water for agricultural production.

According to Mr. Nouphone, the approved projects included Senamnoi Irrigation project with 100 billion kip to supply water for 1,000 ha of agricultural land, National road N.16 B construction project from Dakcheng district to Vietnamese border area with 21km long and the road construction project from Sekong district to Dakcheng district.
