March 9, 2011(KPL) Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry will accelerate to implement highland development plan in northern provinces of the country with the aim to alleviate poverty among local people in the future.
The action plan for highland development was discussed at a meeting, on 2 March at the Lao Plaza hotel, under chairmanship of Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Dr. Ty Phommasack, to ensure achievement of the plan.
Mr. Khamsone Sisagnouane, a project coordinator of highland development project said that the highland development project started in 2007, which was financed by development partners in cooperation with Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
The project has been implemented based on the Lao Government’s policies on poverty reduction.
‘The project has not only focused on development of agro-forestry in highland areas in the northern provinces but also the development of education and health care as well as poverty reduction,’ he continued.
‘Under the plan, the project will continue to implement its work in southern provinces under the guideline of State and Party’.
