February 16, 2011(KPL) Thongchanh Souvanh, member of the Thasang Organic Crop Planting Group in Park Ngum district, Vientiane Capital, said his life had changed so much since his family was engaged in producing organic crops.
Thongchanh in his fifties said income from selling organic crops was not so much but it significantly enhanced the affordability in his family.
Thongchanh said that he decided to grow organic crops because he had realised that his combined income from rice farming and weaving activities could not ensure the affordability of his family.
‘Initially, I pooled some money with members in the group to be used in planting vegetables.
We started with lettuce and after eight months of planting we were satisfied with the outcome of our organic plantation.
The vegetable is acceptable and meet the by market demand,’ said Mr. Thongchanh.
