Water supply expansion in Kaysone Phomvihane

(KPL) The Savannakhet Water Supply Enterprise and the DKLS Limited of Malaysia on January 11 held a ceremony to mark the completion of the Kaysone Phomvihane Water Supply Plant Expansion (phase one) in Kaysone Phomvihane district, Savannakhet province.

Governor of Savannakhet province, Mr. Vilayvanh Phomkhe, and representative of the DKLS Limited Mr. Ding Phoybor along with relevant authorities in the province and representatives of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport were present at the ceremony.

Commencing in 2009, the expansion is to increase the daily production capacity of the water plant from 15,000 cubic metres to 23,000 cubic metres with an investment of USD 15 million.

In addition, the second phase of the expansion is scheduled for completion in December this year including the extension of water pipeline to ensure water consumption of business establishments, educational institutes including Savannakhet University, and communities.

There are 70,555 people in 11,924 families in 30 villages in Kaysone Phomvihane district.
