Trade Unions celebrate 6th general meeting’s success

(KPL) The Lao Federation of Trade Unions’ members gathered at a meeting held in Vientiane last Friday to celebrate their success in organizing the 6th general meeting of the federation.

‘We hold this meeting to celebrate the success of the 6th general meeting of the Lao Federation of Trade Unions amid the atmosphere of the celebration of the 35th anniversary of the Lao PDR, Vientiane’s 450th anniversary as national capital and the 90th birth anniversary of the late President Kaysone Phomvihane as well as the implementation of the resolution of the 8th Party Congress and the sixth five-year socio-economic development plan,’ said President of the Lao Federation of Trade Unions, Mr. Khamla Lolonsy.

At the meeting Mr. Khamla highlighted the works the Lao Federation of Trade Unions had achieved over the last year. He said that the federation protected rights of workers by cooperating with party and state organizations on exchanging points of view on the direction of the party and the adjustment of social welfare treatment such as salary increase of the government.

Mr. Khamla also highlighted the achievement of its external cooperation with its counterparts in Vietnam, China and Cuba.

The Lao Federation of Trade Unions was established in 1956. It plays an important role in enhancing sodality among workers and protecting their rights.
